Joe Lynn Turner still sour:

"Ritchie Blackmore is 'Cheating The Public' with current version of Rainbow"

Former Rainbow and Deep Purple singer Joe Lynn Turner has once again slammed Ritchie Blackmore for the guitarist's decision to go out and perform classic Deep Purple and Rainbow material with a new group musicians instead of reforming Rainbow with a more "authentic" lineup.

Blackmore stepped away from his Renaissance-inspired brand of music with Blackmore's Night for the first time in 2016 to perform a handful of shows with a brand-new lineup of the band he had formed after quitting Deep Purple. The current incarnation of Rainbow includes singer Ronnie Romero, originally from Chile but now settled in Madrid, Spain, as well as Stratovarius keyboardist Jens Johansson, Blackmore's Night drummer David Keith, bassist Bob Nouveau (a.k.a. Robert "Bob" Curiano, ex-Blackmore's Night), and backing singers Candice Night and Lady Lynn.

Speaking to the "80's Glam Metalcast", Turner — who fronted Rainbow from 1980 until 1984 and was a member of Purple from 1989 until 1992 — said that he had been in talks with Blackmore for at least a year about a renewed collaboration before he found out from a French newspaper that Ritchie was returning to rock music but excluding Joe from the project.

The singer said to the "80's Glam Metalcast": "Most people don't know this true story, because I didn't try to really come out and make people understand it all, because I just said, 'Look, the guy's gonna do what he wants to do.' But I was talking to his so-called 'management,' 'cause it's his mother-in-law for a good year. I've got all the e-mails to prove it. We were going back and forth talking about what the reunion of Rainbow would be. And I wanted an authentic Rainbow reunion; I wanted to get authentic players. I wanted the real Rainbow — not just the Rainbow I was in — but I wanted to bring up Doogie White and Graham Bonnet and I had Bob Daisley. Unfortunately, Jimmy Bain had passed and so on and so forth, but Don Airey… I wanted to make it sort of a Rainbow extravaganza. There would be a core band, whether it was [Bobby] Rondinelli or [Chuck] Burgi on drums or Dave Rosenthal — I spoke to all of them. I was lining all this up."

He continued: "You may or may not know anything about the Blackmore camp, as we call it, but they're very guarded. And the mother-in-law — the story is I had a spy in that camp, and the story is that she was badmouthing me to Ritchie saying that I wanted to take full control of it all. And that couldn't be further from the truth. I was talking to Live Nation, which we had over a hundred and sixty dates promised, either headlining and/or special guests at all the big festivals. Our label, Universal, was gonna release not only an album but a four-song EP. I had Rock Fuel Media out of L.A., which was gonna do a 3D video of the whole thing. It was just gonna be gigantic and enormous — amazing. And she turned around and just dropped it like a hot potato — didn't even give me any reason why. And I found out in a newspaper called Le Parisien that I wasn't gonna be in the band. So I kind of laughed at it — simply because he said that I didn't know about it. But I said, 'Well, he's making a mistake, but he doesn't know about it.' And I know that's my opinion today."

Turner went on to criticize Rainbow's current incarnation, saying "the Rainbow [Ritchie] put together is nostalgic, but it is not Rainbow. They never did an album, and all they do is these spot dates. And anybody who goes to see them, it's all over YouTube. And that's really all I've gotta say about it. If you ask me, he's cheating the public. And that wasn't my intention. So happily I go along. Ritchie is allowed to do whatever he wants to do, and so I am. And I don't need the hassle. So it's great."

According to Joe, had his idea for a Rainbow reunion come to fruition, "it would have been unbelievable. And even people who haven't seen Rainbow before — there's a lot of 'em that love the music and grew up on it — are still coming out and seeing Rainbow, no matter what configuration he put together," he said. "If you look at 'Live Between The Eyes' or any of our live stuff compared to the stuff he's got on YouTube with this particular aggregation, there's no comparison. None. Our band rocked."

Joe Lynn Turner Blasts Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow Comeback

Former Rainbow and Deep Purple singer Joe Lynn Turner has blasted Ritchie Blackmore for going out and performing the two bands' classic material with a new group musicians, explaining that "the fans deserve better than a cover band."

Ritchie last year surprised everyone by telling a French newspaper that he was contemplating a return to rock music but excluding Turner from the project. "I think that Joe will not be part of the adventure, and he doesn't know it yet," Ritchie said. "He does his thing, I like him, and I made good albums and good songs with him, like 'Street Of Dreams'." The guitarist has since recruited Lords of Black vocalist Ronnie Romero, Stratovarius keyboardist Jens Johansson, Blackmore's Night drummer David Keith and bassist Bob Nouveau to accompany him at the upcoming shows.

Now in a brand new interview with Eddie Trunk's SiriusXM satellite radio show, "Eddie Trunk Live", Turner slammed his former bandmate, insisting that Ritchie is "making a mistake" by using replacement musicians at this summer's concerts and arguing that "a man of [Blackmore's] status, an icon, really deserves a lot more."

Asked if Blackmore's announcement that Turner would not be involved with the Rainbow comeback "stung" him at all, the singer said: "Well, I was shocked, only because for over a year… See, the truth is I wanted an authentic lineup for Rainbow. I think the way that it should have gone down is an authentic lineup. I was talking to [bassist] Bob Daisley, [drummer Bobby] Rondinelli, [bassist] Roger Glover, [keyboardist] Don Airey… There's a whole bunch of guys out there that were really willing to sort of get involved with this… open up their schedules and get involved. And, apparently, Ritchie didn't wanna do that. So I spent a good year of my time working that out with Carole Stevens, his manager. And I was shocked, because I'll tell you why. She was putting my name out there — and I have all the e-mails to prove this, by the way — she was putting my name out there, and it was… even in German, with a big agency out there in Germany, saying, 'Joe Lynn Turner and Ritchie Blackmore this June, 2016, together again. The perfect pair. Blah blah blah.' And she was getting feedback from it."

He continued: "I'm honestly flabbergasted, because it made so much sense, especially with the deal that was presented to him. It made so much sense… number one, for the fans. You know, I've read a couple of things he said. He said he was doing it for nostalgia. Well, if he was doing it for nostalgia, why wouldn't he do it the right way? So I don't understand that contradiction sometimes. If we were gonna do it for nostalgia, we would have done it with an aggregate of guys that were authentic. And, to me, that's the way to come out. We would have honored Ronnie Dio's era [Rainbow vocalist from 1975 until 1979], we would have gotten Graham Bonnet [Rainbow vocalist from 1979 until 1980] up there, Doogie White [Rainbow vocalist from 1994 until 1997] up there. To me, it was gonna be a Rainbow extravaganza, and it was all set. A few songs from these guys, a few songs from those guys… It would have been great. We would have [Ritchie's son] Jürgen Blackmore out on guitar… family. It was just gonna be a big party, and he just didn't go for it. So I'm still scratching my head."

Turner added: "I thought it was a classless thing to do that Ritchie by announcing in [the French newspaper] Le Parisien [that he was going out and playing Rainbow and Deep Purple songs with a new singer]. I had to laugh. [Ritchie] said [to Le Parisien], '[Joe Lynn Turner] doesn't know it yet.' And the first thing I said was, 'Well, I think he's making a mistake, but he doesn't know it yet.' What I mean by that is, Ritchie's allowed to do whatever he wants to do, and he always does. I have no sour grapes about this, so let that be told. But I think a man of his status, an icon, really deserves a lot more. And what we were trying to put together, and we had a turnkey operation with Live Nation, the biggest festivals of the summer; we had UMG — that's Universal Music Group, for those out there that don't know — we had Universal [express an interest in releasing] box sets; we also had Rock Fuel Media, a huge video company, going to put out a DVD and the whole thing. I wanted to do a new album — at least four cuts — and maybe redo some other, older cuts in a new way, sort of update them. So this was a huge package and it was gonna be a big deal. And apparently he didn't wanna do that. So it was a shock to me that somebody would turn down not only an incredible way to, sort of, go out in style, but also to make a whole bunch of money for himself, because he was set to make quite a bit of money on this one. So I wish him well. Like I said, I've got no sour grapes. I'm very busy and very fortunate and blessed, and I thank everyone out there for that love and support all these years that keeps me going. But I really wish he had done it a different way for the fans. I think the fans deserve better than a cover band."

Joe went on to say: "I don't know what happened. I don't understand why he would go out and pick up, basically, two guys from Blackmore's Night. Jens is brilliant on keyboards, of course; I played with him in [Yngwie Malmsteen's band]. And [new Rainbow singer] Ronnie [Romero], I don't know Ronnie. [He] sounds great. I don't know. So I don't know. I wish them well. But I'm still shaking my head."

The singer also revealed that he has had no communication with Blackmore since Rainbow's return was officially announced. He said: "No, I haven't spoken to him since then. You've gotta understand something: he doesn't talk to people; he talks through people. I talked to Dr. Drew Thompson, I talked to Carole Stevens… I talked to these people instead of him. He always puts them in front of him so he doesn't have to actually converse with me — or converse with anyone, for that matter."

He continued: "The one thing I will say I'd like to defend a bit is the fact that everybody thought I was delusional, and I know I wasn't delusional at all; I was talking to [Ritchie's] camp, and they were telling me this was gonna happen. So all these people that came out and said, 'Oh, he doesn't know what he's talking about.' And, 'It's all wishful thinking.' No. That's not the truth at all. This really was going down, and as people can see, it is going down."

Joe Lynn Turner Claims He Will Reunite Ritchie Blackmore Later This Year

Joe Lynn Turner claims that his long-awaited reunion with Rainbow leader Ritchie Blackmore will finally take place this year — even though previous attempts to bring the two back together were unsuccessful. Joe was the singer of Rainbow between 1980 and 1984 and he sang on the album "Difficult To Cure", which featured the band's most successful U.K. single, "I Surrender".

During Turner's time with Rainbow, the band had its first USA chart success and recorded songs that helped define the melodic rock genre. Speaking after his solo show in London last night, the singer told Classic Rock magazine: "[Ritchie is] itching to do some rocking, and we're going to get together in the fall. "Ritchie is really, really ready to rock. He still has the chops, too."

He continued: "I'm not sure if it's going to be a Rainbow reunion, or a bunch of remakes — which I detest, because you can't improve on perfection. But that's what's happening." As confident as Joe is that Ritchie will finally agree to return to his rock roots, Turner acknowledged that Blackmore, who is known for being moody and unpredictable, could back out at any time. "It's Ritchie, man," he said. Turner also expressed concern that Blackmore's "wife or mother-in-law" could "get in the way," adding, "She drives me fucking crazy."

According to Turner, previous attempts to put Rainbow back together fell apart because Blackmore wanted to focus on his band Blackmore's Night, which is fronted by the guitarist's wife, Candice Night. "We had multi-million dollar deals set up with Live Nation," Joe recalled. "A 60-day tour to start with, HD 3D movie, everything — and then he had to finish [a Blackmore's Night] album." Despite this, Turner seems convinced that things will turn out differently this time on the Rainbow reunion front. "It could happen," he said. "It's probable."

After Blackmore's final departure from Deep Purple in 1993, he resurrected Rainbow before focusing exclusively on Blackmore's Night. Asked in a 2005 interview if he could ever see himself returning to the hard rock world, either with a Rainbow lineup, or with a new project, Ritchie said: "I'm enjoying myself so much with this band [Blackmore's Night] that it's hard to see that happening. I might think about doing one or two shows with Deep Purple, but their management couldn't be involved. It wouldn't be for recording — just for the fans for nostalgia. But we do play some rock in this band so it's not like I've abandoned that genre completely. It's just that it's not all we play."

Axel Rudi Pell To Be Joined By 5 Rainbow Members At Bang Your Head Concert

German guitarist Axel Rudi Pell will celebrate his 25th anniversary as a solo artist by performing a very special show on July 11 at the Bang Your Head!!! festival in Balingen, Germany.

Says Pell: "This year we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of my solo career. My first solo album, 'Wild Obsession', came out in 1989. Therefore, we will play a very special and unique show at the Bang Your Head!!! festival in Balingen, Germany on July 11th to celebrate this and we will headline the festival on that day!

"This will be no regular show by far! Of course, we will play a lot of songs with the recent Axel Rudi Pell line-up featuring Johnny Gioeli, Bobby Rondinelli, Ferdy Doernberg, Volker Krawczak and myself, but this will only be 1/3 of the complete show approximately. As this year also sees the 30th recording anniversary of my former band Steeler (the first record was released in 1984), we will reunite in the original lineups (Peter Burtz, Tom Eder, Jan Yildiral and both bass players Roland Hag and Volker Krawczak) to perform a couple of songs for you. The reunion will only happen on that day and it will be an exclusive one-off! Furthermore, we will have a few Axel Rudi Pell vintage members there and we're proud to announce that both vocalists Rob Rock and Jeff Scott Soto among original drummer Jörg Michael will enter the stage too to play a few older Axel Rudi Pell tracks.

As this ain't enough, I invited some other musical guests and friends to play a few cover tracks together and I'm really proud to announce the following guests in no particular order: Graham Bonnet, Joe Lynn Turner, Doogie White, Tony Carey, John Lawton & Vinny Appice.

"Be there at very very special show, which will be a lifetime event and will last for more than three hours."

Jan Erling Holberg Documentary "Street of Dreams" featuring Joe Lynn Turner

An documentary movie titled "Street of Dreams" will get it's first festival screening at the prestigious Trondheim Dokumentarfestival late November. The documentary will follow Jan Erling through the beautiful landscape of Norway as he gets his first real chance of a major breakthrough on tour with his favorite vocalist of all times – Joe Lynn Turner.

This is an universal story of never giving up, seizing the day and following your heart. We want to give the viewer the feelgood-sensation as we follow our main character, Jan Erling, at home, in the studio, the kindergarden, skiing in the mountains and of course on tour. But will Jan Erling ever become a rockstar? My goal for this film is to reach out to a broad audience. This is not only a film for the fans of Joe Lynn Turner, but for every preson that ever had a dream about wanting more of life than the A4-existece.

Just hearing the name Joe Lynn Turner is enough to send shivers down the spine for any fan of classic rock. Turner has put down vocal tracks on albums with legendary artists like Rainbow, Deep Purple, Yngvie Malmsteen amongst many others. His latest contribution to the world of rock is a little bit different.

In March 2011, the album "Sense of Time" was released. The man behind the album is the anonymous Norwegian Jan Erling Holberg. Allthough educated at LIPA, bassplayer Jan Erling never made his way into the world of the stars. Meanwhile, he has been living a normal family life with wife and kids in a small community in Norway. He had everything a man could ever want. House, boat, stabile job and a beautiful family. Despite of this, Jan Erling got depressed. His 30 year old ambition of becoming a professional musician seemed to fade away into a suburban dream. Jan Erling decided to do something about it before it was too late. Recording demos at night resulted in a handful of tracks that raised the attention of his childhood hero Joe Lynn Turner. Jan Erling quit his job, raised the money on his own and a year later he was closer than everbefore to fulfill his dream.

The documentary movie will follow Jan Erling through the beautiful landscape of Norway as he gets his first and only chance of a major breakthrough on tour with his favorite vocalist of all times – Joe Lynn Turner. We will follow him on his ups and downs to see if his dream of becoming a rockstar will be realized or if he has to go back to his former job and a anonymous life in his wooden house by the fjord.

The project have recieved financial support from Midtnorsk Filmsenter and Hemne Kommune. Below you can check the documentary trailer. More information can be found on this Facebook page for this project.

Joe Lynn Turner & Carmine Appice dismess rumors about New Supergroup

On September 17, 2012, reports were posted on various websites with what appeared to be "official news"> from Ex-Rainbow/Deep Purple singer Joe Lynn Turner (JLT) and Ex-Ozzy Osbourne/Vanilla Fudge drummer Carmine Appice about a new band/project with Michael Anthony (Van Halen, Chickenfoot). Both Appice and Turner have officially dismissed this news as a rumor.

The musicians said that there was never any press release sent out by either of their media representatives or their record companies. While both of them agree that they have had casual conversations about musicians they would like to work with, including Michael Anthony, this news of the formation of a <> is not official or confirmed.

Turner admits, "Carmine and I are longtime friends and we have talked over the years about working together on future projects. These are conversations musicians like us often have all the time. These conversations are not 'official news' it is just casual talk. Like many artists, we exchange ideas about people we would like to work with if given the chance. Names like Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Michael Anthony are all musicians we both admire but we never released any official news stating that we were planning to launch this so-called supergroup." Turner and Appice would like to specifically apologize to bassist Michael Anthony (Van Halen, Chickenfoot) and his fans for any confusion this rumor or any casual conversations might have caused.

Appice confirms, "We had nothing to do with the publishing of any of this news about this project and neither of us talked to any journalists or media people 'on the record' about a possible supergroup. Having said all this, Joe and I have worked together in the past and can't rule out the possibility of working together in the future."

Joe Lynn Turner has a book & rock opera in the works

Joe Lynn Turner reveals he's got a book in the works in a new interview by Jeb Wright on Classic Rock Revisited.

On the question "You were also being called Jolene at the time (Rainbow days)", Joe answered "Oh, that was a huge Dolly Parton record. Ross Haflin was calling me that. You just wait till my book comes out. I have some great stories about Ross".

The book also got a mention when another "Will Ritchie ever return to rock" question was asked. JLT: "It really is a shame, though; as I know he wants to do that, in his heart. I think they’ve got him right by the balls. He’s trapped. He’s mind fucked. He just can’t seem to see daylight. To me, I watched Ritchie go through three or four wives when I was with him. I saw the same pattern in everyone that he married. I am not putting Blackmore down; I am just saying that it is not going to happen. It is all going to be in the book".

It's not clear when the book can be expected. Joe only revealed: "I have picked out a writer, although I went through a few before him. I was going to use the guy who did Glenn Hughes’ book but he didn’t work out because he wants too much money."

Joe also told: "There is a rock opera that I wrote a number of years ago that I am working with Tribeca Films, which are Robert DeNiro’s people. It is about Galileo. Nobody knows that Galileo invented the telescope and that he was a drunken womanizer. He was a rock star for his time. He proved the earth revolved around the sun and he survived the Inquisition. We are hoping to get something going with it. There are songs written for the thing and we are feeling it out."

George Gakis has been a longstanding figure in the Greek rock music scene. He created "The Troublemakers" in May 1993, as a five person (melodic) rock group, influenced by groups such as, Whitesnake, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Deep Purple, Winger, Scorpions etc. Through his own label G. G. Records, he released three albums: "Keep on Rock 'n' Rollin" (1989), "Pain in my ass" (1995), "Forbidden Paradise" (2000), music and lyrics by George Gakis.

George Gakis very recently finished the recording of his new album, titled: Too much ain't never enough, which includes ten original songs, lyrics and music by George Gakis, and one very special arrangement of a traditional Greek song.

Kip Winger, with guest star appearances by Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple), Bobby Rondinelli (Rainbow), James Kottak (Scorpions), Greg Smith (Alice Cooper, Over the Rainbow), Mark Cross (Helloween, Firewind, Outloud) and Yiannis Spathas (guitarist of legendary Greek rock group Socrates). Joe Lynn Turner's Sunstorm To Release 'Emotional Fire' In February

Joe Lynn Turner's popular AOR side project with German/American producer Dennis Ward, Sunstorm, will release its third album, entitled "Emotional Fire", on February 24, 2012 in Europe (February 28 in North America) via Frontiers Records.

Born after Turner met with Frontiers Records' president Serafino Perugino, the Sunstorm project was a way to dig up some old gems, written by the former Rainbow, Deep Purple and Yngwie Malmsteen singer during the mid-'80s. The task was to create an ultimate Joe Lynn Turner melodic rock "dream collection." This brought on the release of the first Sunstorm album in 2006 — which was met with much critical acclaim — and the follow-up, "House Of Dreams", three years later.

While the first two albums' basic inspiration came from the melodic rock catalogue of songs that Turner penned for himself or other artists of the genre, for this third album, Frontiers and Joe Lynn Turner decided to look at Turner's numerous vocal sessions he did in the '80s as a background vocalist for other artists. This brought on a resurrection of some of Michael Bolton's melodic rock gems such as "Gina", (originally included on "The Hunger" album, where Turner contributed background vocals), "You Wouldn't Know Love" and "Emotional Fire", which Bolton penned for the "Heart Of Stone" album by Cher (in which Turner also appeared as background vocalist).

"I sang background on the original 'Gina'," says Joe, "Michael and I did all of the parts but I tried to rock it up a bit more than the original... not so pop! Good song though! It's funny... I heard 'Emotional Fire' from Desmond Child during a writing session and then he asked me to sing background vocals on it! Crazy! It's like one big circle!"

With production and mixing once again under the expert hands of Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69, Place Vendome, Angra) and a track listing rounded out by some amazing songs written by the likes of Soren Kronkvist (Crash The System, Issa), Tom and James Martin (Vega, Sunstorm, Khymera) and Daniel Palmqvist (Xorigin, The Murder Of My Sweet), the third Sunstorm album, "Emotional Fire", is destined to reignite the melodic rock passion in every fan.

"I think this record has a good mix of songs," concludes Joe, "Just what Sunstorm is supposed to be! Dennis Ward is a great producer and the players are amazing. I have to say I am pleased with the work we did and hope that everyone else will be pleased as well… Enjoy!"

"Emotional Fire" track listing:

01. Never Give Up
02. Emotional Fire
03. Lay Down Your Arms
04. You Wouldn't Know Love
05. Wish You Were Here
06. Torn In Half
07. Gina
08. The Higher You Rise
09. Emily
10. Follow Your Heart
11. All I Am

The first single, 'Never Give Up' can be exclusively streamed on the Frontiers Records webradio www.frontiers.it/webradio

Joe Lynn Turner sings two songs on Howard Leese Solo Album

Frontiers Records is excited to announce the European release of the brand new Howard Leese album Secret Weapon on July 3.

Best known as guitar player for Heart which he joined in 1975 and with whom he stayed for 22 years, Leese co-produced some of their 13 albums. Heart had 20 top 40 singles, 3 International no. 1 singles, a no. 1 album ("Heart") in 85', has received 4 Grammy nominations and has sold 40 million records worldwide.

Howard Leese has often been called "Heart's secret weapon". His debut solo record, aptly titled "Secret Weapon" is an effort that's sure to thrust him into the spotlight he so patiently has watched dance around in front of him for decades. ""Secret Weapon" has a wide range of styles. It can go from heavy power trio rock to full symphony orchestra to tender acoustic passages, and that's just in one song!" says Howard, who offered up such Rock giants like Joe Lynn Turner (former Rainbow and Deep Purple singer), Paul Rodgers, Keith Emerson or Jimi Jamison (ex Survivor), to have their spotlight turn on his record.

Tracklisting of "Secret Weapon" includes: Alive Again (vocals Joe Lynn Turner); Heal The Broken Hearted (vocals Paul Rodgers); Hot To Cold (vocals: Deanna Johnston & Joe Lynn Turner), French Quarter (instrumental feat. Keith Emerson); 33 West Street (instrumental feat. Paul Reed Smith), The South Summit (vocals Duke Fame), Rada's Theme (instrumental), The Vine (vocals Jimi Jamison), In These Eyes (vocals Keith St. John), Vermilion Border (instrumental), I've Been Leavin' You (vocals Andrew Black), Somewhere (Theme From West Side Story) (instrumental).

Samples of new Joe Lynn Turner's Sunstorm Project "House of Dreams" CD available

Frontiers Records will release the 2nd Sunstorm album featuring Joe Lynn Turner on vocals on April 17th. The album is titled "House of Dreams".

The first album from the Sunstorm project saw the light of day in 2006, when former Rainbow, Malmsteen, Deep Purple singer Joe Lynn Turner accepted the idea proposed to him by Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino, that was to blow the dust off some awesome songs that he wrote for the aborted follow up album to his debut "Rescue You" during the 80's.

Once again Joe Lynn Turner dug deep in the archives and found some classy Melodic Rock gems. In particular, "I Found Love", "Forever Now" and "Save a Place in Your Heart" (where another AOR cult-hero Paul Sabu appears among the writing credits), while Serafino asked Joe to finally release 'his' version of the amazing ballad "Walk On", that Turner co-wrote with Desmond Child (Kiss, Bon Jovi etc) for the Jimmy Barnes album "Freight Train Heart" from 1987.

Additionally, Jim Peterik was called to offer his talents to the project once again, thus "Tears on the Pages" (a Jon Lind and Russ Ballard co-written tune), "Say You Will" and "Gutters of Gold" entered the track selection. The remaining songs were written by brothers Tom and James Martin (House of Lords, Khymera) who were able to capture the spirit and quality of songs expected for the Sunstorm project.

There are 4 samples of songs of this album available now: Divided, Don't Give Up, Found Love and House Of Dreams.

Joe Lynn Turner and Big Noize make "Battlefields" available for streaming

From Big Noize's My Space Blog: We are happy to announce that the song "Battlefields" that was performed for our troops in Iraq and Kuwait has finally been completed and has been posted. There was quite a delay in getting this done, for many reasons, but mainly scheduling - some of us are East Coast and some are on the West Coast!

Anyway, the music was recorded and send to Joe in NJ who then sang the vocal and sent it back to LA where it was mixed and mastered. We are really happy to have it up here although we have to wait for clearance to allow it to be distributed. In the mentime you may add it to your profile and please listen to it all you want.

It is really an emotional song and it brings us right back to the special time that we were able to share with all of our troops in all the remotest locations. It is also dedicated to all the troops that we were not able to see, and those in other parts of the world; we know that you are out there putting it all on the line for our security, freedom and safety, and we THANK YOU!

Our lives will certainly never be the same, nor taken for granted, after meeting all of you fantastic man and women of our Military, and we Salute you - God bless you all.

(Studio City, CA.) Supergroup Big Noize, featuring vocalist Joe Lynn Turner (Deep Purple, Rainbow, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN), bassist Phil Soussan (OZZY OSBOURNE, VINCE NEIL), guitarist Carlos Cavazo (QUIET RIOT, RATT) and drummer Simon Wright (AC/DC, Dio) has been forced to cancel their South American tour this month.

On December 4, 2008 Big Noize and booking agent Sullivan Bigg released the following statement:

Although there were several promoters involved, all of them were in breach of contract by failing to make arrangements and provide the funding as agreed, despite repeated requests from band management and agent. Big Noize waited to cancel until "the last minute" in good faith that flight/hotel arrangements and funding would show up.

As of today, neither flight/hotel arrangements or funding has been sent to band management nor their agent. The members of Big Noize were looking forward to playing to fans on this tour. The band, management and booking agent are all sad and disappointed that this has happened but they are looking forward to an opportunity in the future to reschedule a tour to South America with more reputable promoters.

Anyone who purchased tickets should address their refund issues and concerns directly to the promoters and corresponding venues.

Live Report: Big Noize featuring Joe Lynn Turner plays IRAQ

On September 9, 2008, Big Noize played a free concert for the U.S. and Coalition forces at Forward Operating Base Shield in Baghdad. After the sound check, the band enjoyed an outdoor barbeque while hanging out with the troops. The band kicked off around 8:00 o'clock and played one 2 ½ hour set, composed mostly of hits from Rainbow, Quiet Riot, AC/DC, Deep Purple and Ozzy.

While the performance of each of the band members was outstanding, the enthusiasm of the crowd and the band was what made it one of the most memorable concerts I've attended. The audience of mostly young soldiers head banged non-stop and then began crowd surfing. The band joined in with Joe surfing out across the crowd.

However, the most spectacular sight of the evening was provided by the Iraqis living at a neighboring compound. Approximately 50 Iraqis climbed the 20 foot tall concrete wall and then danced and generally rocked out for the rest of the evening. The band then stayed and signed autographs and visited for another hour or more. All in all, it was the best evening that this place has seen - ever. Thanks to the band for a great show and thanks for coming to visit us at FOB Shield. Take care, good luck and safe journeys.

Joe Lynn Turner writes a Blog on upcoming Kuwait and Iraq gigs

From Joe Lynn Turner:

Hey everybody... My first solo live cd is coming out this fall... Europe release first... USA a little later... check out joelynnturner.com for official info on all dates.

I will play the Waterfront Fest in Newburgh, NY on August 31 .... so if you are in that area try and make it !! Sshould be a great time! We will do Dexters again in Riverdale in NJ October 4th..... but between all this it is a tour of Iraq with Big Noize! Here are some of my thoughts on this once in a life time event!!!

We really have no idea how long our shows will go in Iraq... lol... we talked about it today in a conference call... if we feel like playing for 90 minutes or 2 hours we will do it!! we are very excited about entertaining our troops!!! They deserve so much!... and for a time they can forget about whats happening around them and just "rock out" !!!

There are so many things about touring Iraq and Kuwait that are unique. For example... we are issued military orders... we have to carry our orders everywhere... We may be musicians but for those days in the middle east we will be part of our allied forces !!!... I'm so psyched!!!

Wwhen we arrive in Kuwait we will be issued "iba"...aka... individual body armor.... and no!!...I am not joking!!! This will weigh about 40 pounds and we will have to wear this on all flights on the tour and in any situation where we are told to wear it. .... It's for our own protection!!!... also ... We must stay together as a team!!!... No one is allowed to go off anywhere on their own!!!...So it will be a strong bonding experience as well!

We look forward to meeting the brave men and women of the multi-national forces on bases, in camps and in hospitals. We will do many meet and greets as well!!!as performers we have some special privileges!!! It will be so cool to be invited to the flight deck of a C-130, ride and drive a tank and blackhawk helicopters and maybe shoot howitzers into the hillsides!... Pretty crazy!!!..... We have been told that we may have to endure the legendary "Corkscrew" or "Combat" landing which has been described as similar to what used to be an "E" ticket ride in Disneyland...lol... if you are close to my age you know what an "E" ticket is. lol!!!...Most civilians pass out or vomit due to the rough maneuver!!!

Some of the things we are not used to... They include possibly having to walk 50 feet to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night (no big deal considering !) and hanging out in 136F in the shade!! We will stay in barracks with the troops... It's very rare that we will get any "Hollywood" treatment as far as accommodations!!... No hotel suites in the desert!!! But I'm sure we will get through it. We will also be eating with the service men and women at scheduled meal times and if we are hungry after a show we hear there is a thing called "Midnight Ration." One thing the military does is feed you very well!!...

I am absolutely sure I will have a life changing experience and I am going into this with a 100% positive attitude. I am not going to lie and say it is not scary... it is!! But the United Force that is music is so powerful that I am willing to bring it to the troops!! They give us the freedom to follow our dreams... and this is at the very least what we can give to them!... Wish us luck!... See you soon!....All the best. JLT

CLASSICS IN ROCK with Joe Lynn Turner & DOOGIE WHITE is Cancelled

Today, on April's fools day of all days, we received the bad news that the Classics in Rock Event that should have featured Joe Lynn Turner and Doogie White amongst other performers including Eric Martin, Fish, Chris Thompson, Andy Scott and Ian Parry has been cancelled. This is the 2nd big rock event that has been cancelled recently in The Netherlands. Last week Fields of Rock was cancelled due to poor ticketsales and the lack of good headliners. No reason yet is given why the Classics in Rock Event has been cancelled, but most likely it's again poor ticketsales.

Doogie White says: "The Classics in Rock show at the Ahoy is cancelled. So for any of you who were going to attend, sorry. The JLT DTW duet will no doubt be a sorely missed highlight of the show that never was."

Lisa Walker (JLT's virtual assistent) now also has confirmed the cancellation: "Just got word from JLT's manager... the Rotterdam show has been cancelled".

Update:
The promotors of both Classics in Soul and Classics in Rock, New Road Media & Ahoy Rotterdam, have announced in a press report the reason both shows are cancelled is due to poor ticketsales.

People who have bought a ticket can return it before October 10, 2008 and get a refund at the known ticket sales addresses or at the Ahoy Hall.

DOOGIE WHITE to duet with Joe Lynn Turner at 'CLASSICS IN ROCK' on April 12

Doogie White will be heading off to The Ahoy, Rotterdam in April, to perform at Classics in Rock. "I have been learning and rehearsing some songs. I am gonna work in London with the band, singing songs by the other singers. It just makes it easier for the band to know whats going on if there is someone singing along. Its a lot of fun actually and I am learning some new chops from great singers like Jimi Jamieson and Eric Martin".

Speaking of the former Mr Big vocalist, both he and I will be giving a guided tour of the stage and back stage area, answering questions, bursting spontaneously into song and hosting a pre show event for VIP package holders. Out of all the singers appearing I only know Ian Parry and Joe Lynn Turner. JLT and I have agreed on the song we are going to sing together. It's tough trying to find a good classic rock song to duet on but we have come up with a cracker. Of course as soon as you pick one and the band start working on it, suggestions start pouring in. Still I am looking forward to singing on stage with Joe and then sharing a nice cold beer with him afterwards."

MelodicRock.com is gigantic web portal and magazine that recognizes the fact that this type of music still has a large legion of loyal fans throughout the world. As Joe Lynn Turner says, "Just because the grunge movement came in and took over the airwaves in the 1990s here is the USA does not mean the fans of this type of music stopped liking it. They were just not being 'fed' this music as often by radio and video music television channels. MelodicRock.com fulfilled that need and continued to 'feed' fans with news, audio and more great features about this genre of music and the artists who continue to churn out high quality albums today."

Turner, who has released 9 solo albums since his solo debut, "Rescue You" in 1985, credits MelodicRock.com in part with the enormous success he has continued to have since he left Deep Purple in the early 90s. The portal is run by Australian based journalist Andrew McNeice and first made its debut in the first week of January 1997. Since that time it has become one of the most respected and leading music websites in the world, taking in 27 million hits and currently services 200,000 unique users per month.

The show headlining "house band" is Nashville based Scrap Metal, the all-star group featuring Gunnar and Matthew Nelson, Kelly Keagy, Mark Slaughter, Eric Martin, Dave Marshall (Vince Neil Band) and Gary Corbett (Lou Gramm Band/Cinderella). Turner and other rock luminaries will join Scrap Metal on stage for a special expanded headline set.
