Don Airey, keyboardplayer during 1979-1981 in Rainbow and since 2002 the replacement for Jon Lord in Deep Purple, will do two solo dates in April 2011. The third date in Austria has been cancelled. On April 23rd Don plays Musikclub Uhlenspiegel in Rutesheim, Germany. A day later, April 24, Don will perform at The Rock Temple in Kerkrade, The Netherlands.

After exciting shows by Graham Bonnet's Alcatrazz and Over The Rainbow in The Rock Temple, the venue in Kerkrade has once again someone with a Rainbow connection playing live on stage in the south of the Netherlands. Don't miss it!

Don Airey (born 21 June 1948 in Sunderland, England) has been the keyboardist in the rock band Deep Purple since 2002, succeeding Jon Lord. He has had a long and productive career, playing with such acts as Gary Moore, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Whitesnake, Colosseum II, Sinner, Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth, Rainbow, Divlje jagode and Living Loud. He has also worked with Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Inspired by his father, Norman Airey, Don Airey took a love for music at a young age and was trained in classical piano from the age of seven. He continued his love for music by earning a degree at the University of Nottingham and a diploma at the Royal Northern College of Music.

In 1974 he moved to London and joined Cozy Powell's band Hammer. Don worked on several albums with solo artists and was a session musician on the 1978 Black Sabbath album Never Say Die! Soon after, he joined guitarist Ritchie Blackmore's band, Rainbow, and featured on Gary Moore's solo debut Back on the Streets. With Rainbow he contributed to two hit albums, Down to Earth and Difficult to Cure. He was also part of the very influential jazz rock band Colosseum II with Jon Hiseman, Gary Moore and John Mole which also formed the core band that recorded Andrew Lloyd Webber's variations on a theme of Paganini, simply called Variations.

After leaving Rainbow in 1981, Airey joined with Ozzy Osbourne for a three year stint where he helped with the albums Bark at the Moon and Speak of the Devil. He did play on the Diary of a Madman Tour from 1981–82 and appears on both Blizzard of Ozz & Diary of a Madman.

Airey joined Jethro Tull in 1987 for their tour in support of Crest of a Knave. The same year also saw the release of Whitesnake's multi-platinum Whitesnake, on which Airey played keyboards. (The album is known as 1987 in Europe).

Soon after he quit the band to record the solo album K2. The full name is K2 - Tales of Triumph and Tragedy. In it he plays with Gary Moore, Keith Airey - guitars, Cozy Powell - drums, Laurence Cottle - bass, Chris (Hamlet) Thompson, Colin Blunstone, Mel Galley, Genki Hitomi - vocals.

In 1990 Don Airey played keyboards on Judas Priest's Painkiller Album. Originally Airey played on all Painkiller tracks but they were cut out to make the album more brutal-like.

In 1997 he arranged and played on "Love Shine a Light" by Katrina And The Waves, conducting the accompanying orchestra at The Eurovision Song Contest. The song won the contest.

He also worked with Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson on one of Dickinson's solo albums, playing keyboards on "Darkness Be My Friend". Airey also played keyboards on At Vance's mastermind Olaf Lenk's first solo album Sunset Cruise. In 2006 Airey featured on Gary Moore's release Old New Ballads Blues contributing to all tracks.

In 2008 Airey released his second solo album, A Light In The Sky and recently it has been announced that another solo album from Airey is set to premiere in 2011.

Airey went in semi-retirement until 2001, when he joined Deep Purple to fill in for an injured Jon Lord, who has since retired. Airey joined the band as a full time keyboardist in March 2002. He has recorded two studio albums with the band, Bananas and Rapture of the Deep.

Airey lives with his wife, Doris, and their three children in South West Cambridgeshire. The first half of the 1990s saw Airey's son suffer from a serious illness, so his musical activity was largely on hiatus during this time.

He has a brother, Keith Airey, who played guitar for the reformed version of The Zombies from 2001 to 2010.

He is currently writing a book about his experiences in the music business.

support act: SeriouS

2010 has been the year to take things SeriouS for this five piece rockband, originating from the Netherlands and doing things the best way they know how, founder members Nick Polman and Jan Bijlsma started recording the songs which they had written with the concept of a new band in the back of their minds. Complimented by the harmonic vocal lines that are the trademark of lead-singer Jonathan Hoevertsz, the combination of rough-edged double barrel guitar-parts and a strong sense for melody in the vocals all adds up to the unique sound of SeriouS : fierce yet gentle ;raw but polished.

In the meantime joined by drummer Robert Spaninks and guitarist Vincent Zaalberg, the recording of their debut album was done with a lot of focus on the total production, as well as each individual track, intended to be a story of its own. The best way to describe the compositions is that every aspect in each song has been carefully considered and is meant to be an open door to a broader audience attracting ‘rockers and ravers’ alike.

The band is geared up to go out on stage to perform all 13 songs live, and take every aspect of making and performing their music very intense; attending a concert will be an experience where musical craftsmanship and entertainment join hands together, aiming to create a long-lasting friendship with audiences around the world. If you pronounce "SeriouS" fonetically, it also refers to Sirius, the double universal star that is said to connect all galaxies in the universe. The rotation period of small Sirius B around big Sirius A is 52 world years, which is the measure that ancient Mayan astronomers based their Tzolkin, or real-time calendars upon, known as 'the Sirian cycle'. It is said in their prophecies that Sirius will be the responsible star to unify all galaxies and solar systems throughout the universe in the year 2012, resonating the ultimate tone and chord of gathering and unity! Hopefully, SeriouS-music will be a source to let many music lovers gather and unite throughout the world to enjoy the songs they have written for this debut album and share the passion, the magic and fun these guys feel when they play and perform their songs.

Now the quest is to find all the right partners within the music-industry that are willing to invest their long-term commitments to build SeriouS into a stronghold that will last through the next decade and beyond. All conditions seem to be good and the ingredients are all there... it will only take a label with the same kind of vision to set the world stage for this incredible debut album; a landmark for anyone that appreciates and realizes the future is now so let’s get SeriouS.
