Notes:

Abandoning the 'JF Murphy and Salt' nameplate in favor of 'Murphy's Law', 1975's "Urban Renewal" wasn't a major change in musical direction. That's to say this album was equally varied, eclectic and ill-focused. Side one managed to touch on bagpipes, commercial top-40 pop ('Mad Monk'), Billy Joel-styled storytelling ('Those Magnificent Clowns'), Little Feat styled funk ('Bushwackers'), and even polka ('Almost a Take (Beer Barrel Polka)').

Side two was equally varied with stabs at the jazz-rock ('Doze Jazz Guys'), Billy Joel-styled ballads ('I'd Rather Be'), and even the classic American songbook ('Urban Renewa'). Murphy had a nice enough voice and the band were quite accomplished musicians, but the feeling was akin to being in a small bar and playing stump-the-band with song requests.
